Active, launched in January 2018, is is described by its founders as “a group of watch addicts with the passion and constancy of traditional watch craftsmanship” who aim to “awaken people’s minds about the core function of a watch.”
To differentiate the design from the huge fashion watches that are going out of style, the dial design finds inspiration from the industrial essence of the gear chain, rotor, gauge, etc. The core design of the watch dial is well constructed with seven layers and 11 applied parts and the base of the dial is decorated with a guilloche motif, giving it a grained texture effect. Hours and minutes are indicated by the printed marks and indexes on the stratified dial’s layer.
The hands are skeletonized and painted with Super-LumiNova, large and legible enough for ease of time reading in the dark. The date window sits neatly at 5 o’clock. The Active Ingegnere collection sports a satin-brushed surface finishing with a circular case and accentuated with a sharpened bezel. The case is enclosed with a flat sapphire crystal that is known for its excellent scratch-resistance on the front and a screw-down transparent caseback from the rear, allowing you to enjoy every movement of the laser brand marked movement rotor and balance wheel motion.
In this collection, you have the choice of three color combinations with the stainless steel bracelet and two color combinations of the Italian leather strap. Dial variations include (1) All Silver, (2) Black and Silver, (3) All Black for the bracelet version; (1) All Silver, (2) All Black for the strap version.
The interchangeable watch straps are made from genuine Italian calf leather. The strap will also come with a polished 316L stainless steel buckle and is engraved with the Active name. The straps have a width of 22 mm x 20 mm for men, a unisex functional length suitable for most customers, and seven holes for adjustment. The wristband contains a quick release spring bar, so that the straps can be swapped in seconds without the need for special tools. They are available in brown and black.
The solid bracelet is made from 316L stainless steel with fine satin-brushed finishing and comes with links that can be adjusted for every wrist size with our provided tools and the double push buttons engraved with the Active branding. They are available in three different colors: (1) Silver, (2) Two-Tone (Black and Silver), and (3) All Black.
Every watch goes under extensive quality control, undergoing a technical control check, quality assurance check and a final quality check which involves a QC engineer rigorously testing all watches (e.g. water resistance, movement test, plating test and drop test ) to ensure the watches well functioned before dispatching the products to customers.
The Active Ingegnere collection starts at $149, and there are many different discounts offered for early backers on the Kickstarter account. All watches come with a 2-year warranty and are expected to be ready for free shipment direct to customers by June 2019.
