Nomos Launches New Club Campus Series at Baselworld 2017

While Nomos Glashütte has always been a fan favorite among younger watch aficionados, this year at Baselworld the brand is taking its contemporary and bright-eyed designs a step further, to bring forth a series specially meant to commemorate the milestones of youth. Here is what you need to know about the Nomos Club Campus Series.

The new series, released as part of the brand’s larger Club Collection, features three new watches specifically meant to celebrate a recent graduation, first career, or brand-new journey. With the Club Campus at 36 mm, the Club 38 Campus at 38.5-mm, and the Club 38 Campus Nacht also at 38.5-mm, the trio all come in their namesake steel Club cases, with each piece taking on a few different dial aesthetics.

Each watch shares the same general Super-LumiNova-accented dial layout, with printed Arabic and Roman numerals for the even hour markers, tick marks for the odd hours, and a 6 o’clock subdial for running seconds. This subdial showcases a standout neon-orange seconds hand powered by the manually wound Nomos Caliber Alpha, a very reliable movement that makes use of a hacking seconds mechanism and stores a 43-hour power reserve.

The Nomos Club Campus has eye-catching red outlines around the hour numerals.

The Club Campus (Ref. 708), the smallest of the three, was produced for slimmer wrists than its counterparts. The dial is white silver-plated, and its hour markers are each outlined in an eye-catching red. The watch’s strap is a beige velour leather, and in comparison to the other two is the most formal of the bunch.

The Club 38 Campus (Ref. 735) also has a white silver-plated dial, with red outlining for the hour markers, but differentiates itself from the smaller watch in its use of a starkly contrasting bluish-gray inlay. This watch comes with an anthracite (black) velour strap, and is the most traditional — at least by Nomos’s standards — of the three.

The final watch, and the most striking of the trio, is the Club 38 Campus Nacht (Ref. 736). This watch has a black ruthenium-plated dial, beige hour markers with blue outlines, and, like it’s non-Nacht brother, also comes on an anthracite velour leather strap. On this piece, the deep black color of the dial contrasts well with the beige hour markers and orange seconds hand. Overall, it has a very distinguished look, contrasting with the relative subtlety of the Club and Club 38 Campus pieces.

Finally, to add to the importance and symbolism the brand hopes these watches will serve in young watch lovers’ lives, Nomos is making personalized engraving a standard option. The Club Campus series will be available starting at the end of March. The Club Campus will be priced at $1,500, and the Club 38 Campus and Club 38 Campus Nacht, at $1,650. All are available for purchase in the Nomos online store.
