Citizen’s New Eco-Drive Satellite Wave World Time GPS Watch (Updated with Live Photos)

Japan’s Citizen Watch Co. rolls out the latest edition in its popular Satellite Wave collection at Baselworld 2016 — a new, more elegant take on 2015’s Eco-Drive Satellite Wave World Time GPS watch, which had a sportier look. (For a closer look at that watch and its functions, click here.)

The 2016 version of the Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave World Time GPS has an azure blue sunburst-finish dial and a new bracelet design more suited for the boardroom than that of its predecessor. Absent in this new model is the outer bezel emblazoned with the abbreviations of world cities, giving the watch a more streamlined, less sporty look. It is, of course, equipped with Citizen’s proprietary Eco-Drive system, in which the electronic movement is powered by light, as well as the brand’s Satellite Wave technology, first introduced in a watch in 2011, with the fastest GPS signal reception time of any light-powered watch (as little as three seconds). Also like its most recent predecessor, the watch can receive such signals across 40 time zones worldwide. In addition to its timekeeping functions, the watch includes indications for day and date, perpetual calendar, daylight savings time, power reserve and light level.
