BASELWORLD 2017:

Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral Mother-of-Pearl: Luxury for Ladies

Launching this year from Carl F. Bucherer are two new mother-of-pearl models in its Manero Peripheral line. The collection, released last year, has featured primarily time-and-date-only pieces in gold and steel, but has now taken a different turn, with two new watches developed specifically for the women’s luxury market debuting at Baselworld.

The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral Mother-of-Pearl is available with brown or white dial.

The watches, both available in 40.6-mm steel cases, feature either a brown or white mother-of-pearl dial. These dials are significantly different from the black or white options previously available in the Manero Peripheral line, and add a certain intricacy and delicacy to the overall aesthetic of the piece.

The 40.6-mm cases have diamond-bedecked bezels.

Accentuating the dials are applied wedge hour markers, lance hands, a small seconds subdial, and a 3 o’clock date window. Each of the watches also hosts an outer bezel embedded with 60 diamonds — a feature that both contrasts well with the deep brown mother-of-pearl, and also seems to further emphasize the soft white mother-of-pearl of the other dial. The brown option is available with a brown leather alligator strap, while the white version comes equipped with a black leather alligator strap.

Both versions of the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral Mother-of-Pearl contain in-house Caliber CFB A2050.

Significant for this watch is its use of the brand’s in-house A2000 caliber family, as shown in this watch’s automatic caliber CFB A2050. This line of movements was originally released in 2016, with the launch of the Manero Peripheral series, and is noted for its signature peripheral rotor that winds around the edges of the caliber and helps decrease the overall thickness of the case housing it. The CFB A2050 movement featured in these watches has about a 55-hour power reserve, and its beautiful finishing is visible through a sapphire caseback.

These watches signify a new direction for the Manero Peripheral line, as it enters the women’s luxury market. With its fairly large case diameter of 40.6 mm, and the interesting peripheral rotor of its movement, these pieces offer a distinctive choice for ladies hunting for a bigger luxury watch — or even for men searching for a uniquely decorated and designed piece that stands out from others on the market.

Pricing for the watches will be announced this week during Baselworld, and they will likely be available for purchase later this year.
