Baselworld 2017 Preview:

Breguet Tradition Dame 7038

Even though SIHH, the first watch fair of the year, is still a few weeks off, product previews from Baselworld, which kicks off in March, have already begun to trickle in to the WatchTime offices. Here is an early look at one of the first, Breguet’s new Tradition Dame, another addition to the brand’s “feminine haute horlogerie” collection.

The highly technical face of the Breguet Tradition Dame 7038 features the movement’s barrel front and center, hand-engraved with a rosette motif and overlapped by a small off-center subdial, in natural white mother-of-pearl, which displays the time. The dial has a hand-crafted, engine-turned Clou de Paris hobnail motif and a chapter ring with Arabic numerals swept over by Breguet’s signature open-tipped gold hands.

Also in full view from the front of the watch are the main movement gear trains and the bridges that bear them. The mainplate and bridges have been rhodium-plated to add contrast with the gold tones of the case.

The case is made of 18k rose gold and measures 37 mm in diameter. Along with the Tradition collection’s hallmark fluted caseband, it also has a bezel set with 68 brilliant-cut diamonds, and a crown that is set with a watchmaker’s jewel. Inside, and visible through a clear caseback, is Breguet Caliber 505SSR, a self-winding movement that is equipped with a lever escapement, silicon pallets, and a silicon balance spring, and which offers a 50-hour power reserve when fully wound. Its gold rotor is engraved with the same rosette motif as the front-facing barrel.

The Breguet Tradition Dame 7038 comes on a white leather strap, which attaches to the case via welded lugs with screw bars. The price of the watch will be announced at Baselworld 2017.
