Close-Up: The Boutique-Exclusive Ulysse Nardin Blue Toro

The Ulysse Nardin Blue Toro watch — a perpetual calendar with dual-time function powered by an in-house movement — is the definition of “hard-to-get:” The watch (Ref. 326-01LE) is limited to 99 pieces and available exclusively in Ulysse Nardin boutiques. Scroll down for more info and photos.

The Ulysse Nardin Blue Toro limited edition counts among its features a bezel and pushers made of ceramic and skeletonized hands designed to prevent easy reading of the dial’s calendar functions. There is also a sapphire exhibition caseback that shows off the movement, Caliber UN-32, which is COSC-certified as a chronometer, and its solid 22k-gold rotor.

It is a rare example of a perpetual calendar that adjusts forward and backward in seconds over the quick corrector position of a single crown, even in the year 2100. The wearer can adjust Its hour hand instantly to a new local time using pushers (marked “+” and “-“) without taking the watch off the wrist or interfering with its timekeeping. A center-mounted arrow-tipped hand keeps track of the home or reference time. The oversized date, day, month and year change instantly, forward or backward, when the hour hand is moved to a new local time across the dateline by the pushers.

The Blue Toro retails for $56,500. Click on the pictures below for larger images.
