Meistersinger Launches the New Circularis With Bespoke Movement

meistersinger circularisMeistersinger – maker of the famous watch with one hand – has announced a new watch with a new, bespoke, manually wound movement known as caliber MSH01. The movement features a striking design and some interesting technical features. Let’s take a look.

The new watch is the Circularis, and it is the first piece in a new family of models powered by the all-new movement. Meistersinger developed the movement jointly with a Swiss partner. The two companies devoted three years to the project. The movement is highly distinctive – its unusual geometry can’t be mistaken for any other. The first thing you notice is the large, organically shaped bridge, then you see the prominent twin mainspring barrels, which together provide a smooth flow of power for a full five days. The twin barrels and the balance wheel form a triangle that gives the movement a balanced look. The movement is very well finished, with circular côtes de Genève, angled and polished edges, mirror-polished bevels, thermally blued screws, and engravings inlaid with gold. The movement runs at 28,800 vph or 4 Hz in 27 jewels.

The new manual-wind caliber MSH01 offers an original construction and fine finishing.

To ensure that the single, long hand operates with complete precision, a dial train with spring wheel has been integrated in the movement to minimize the backlash of the hand. The balance wheel, balance spring, and escapement have also been specially designed for this movement. Meistersinger says that the movement will serve as a base for future developments.

The movement is housed in a 43-mm stainless steel case with sapphire crystals front and back. An oversize crown speeds winding of the twin mainsprings. The Circularis dial retains the trademark Meistersinger look, and it will be available in three colors: ivory, sunburst silver-white, or sunburst sapphire-blue. Each version is offered on a crocodile strap with a double folding clasp.
