Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio and TAG Heuer Team Up for Hurricane Sandy Relief

TAG Heuer's Jean-Christophe Babin, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprioThe glass-cubed planetarium sphere at New York’s American Museum of Natural History was the stage for a star-studded charity event last Saturday night, hosted by Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer and featuring two of its celebrity “ambassadors,” actors Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio. WatchTime was among the media attending the gala, which was held to raise funds for Diaz’s UN Women Charity and for NY Cares Hurricane Sandy Relief effort.

The exclusive charity event was attended by more than 500 guests, including leaders from the business, fashion and media worlds and international jet-setters, many of whom flew into New York expressly to attend. TAG Heuer’s own in-house celebrity — Jack Heuer, honorary chairman and creator of the iconic Carrera, whose 8oth birthday this year is marked with a limited-edition watch —  was also among the VIP guests. Before the actors took the stage with TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin for presentations and photos, guests were treated to a special performance of the New York City Ballet. Afterward, they danced to the music of popular New York DJ Evalicious. For each guest, TAG Heuer pledged $100 to the New York Cares Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, and another $100 to Cameron Diaz’s partner charity, UN Women, an international initiative that raises awareness of gender inequality and empowerment of women.

On stage, Diaz wore the steel version of the Link Lady Trilogy, a limited edition watch, ring and bracelet set that she co-designed with TAG Heuer. DiCaprio also wore a personalized TAG Heuer timepiece, the Leonardo DiCaprio Link Calibre 16 Chronograph, a limited-edition model with a blue dial and a smoked sapphire caseback engraved with DiCaprio’s signature. As part of the presentation on stage, Babin also presented Diaz with a new yellow-gold version of the Link Lady. The evening was the first occasion in which the Hollywood powerhouses appeared together at a TAG Heuer event.

Profits from the sale of the Link Lady Trilogy will go to support UN Women, while proceeds from the blue-dial LDC Limited Edition Link’s sales will go to DiCaprio’s environmental charity partners, Green Cross International and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). TAG Heuer has been involved in environmental initiatives with DiCaprio since the actor’s visit to its factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds back in 2010.
