After the launch of A. Lange & Söhne shops in Dresden, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul, the brand from Saxony has opened its fifth boutique, in Hong Kong. Lange’s goal for the boutique is to bring the precision, quality and ambiance of traditional German watchmaking to its customers in an intimate and in-depth manner.
A. Lange & Söhne was founded by Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand A. Lange in 1845. Lange crafted pocket watches of exceptional quality that are today coveted by collectors. However, the family business was expropriated in the aftermath of World War II. Four decades later, after the wall came down, Walter Lange, the great-grandson of Ferdinand A. Lange, resumed the work of his forefathers, and today the brand has regained its place among the leading manufacturers of precision timepieces. Lange produces fewer than 5000 pieces each year, and since its rebirth, it has presented 40 in-house developed manufacture movements that have won numerous international awards.
Like its Dresden store, A. Lange & Söhne Hong Kong reflects the brand’s personality. The furnishings and ambiance embody the spirit of craftsmanship and technological innovation. Lange’s leitmotif is reflected in almost every detail of the sales rooms: the coffered walls in typical Lange grey create a pleasant contrast to the indigenous acacia wood. The design conceals the latest in communication, presentation and security technology. The display cabinets are made from a light transmitting concrete, and light-colored sandstone was selected for the floors – the same material used to construct so many buildings in Dresden. However, it is the art of watchmaking that takes center stage here: almost the entire collection of elaborately crafted timepieces from Saxony can be experienced first-hand at A. Lange & Söhne Hong Kong.
The shop is in the heart of the luxury hub of Hong Kong at Shop G11, 1881 Heritage, Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
