Ralph Lauren Black Ceramic Sporting Blue StripeRalph Lauren has added a new color option for the racing stripe on the bracelet of its collection of black matte ceramic chronograph watches. The ceramic-case chronographs are part of Ralph Lauren’s Sporting Collection.

Earlier this year, the firm unveiled watches with black ceramic bracelets featuring rubber center links in bold colors running the length of the bracelet. One model had a yellow stripe, the other a red stripe (pictured below).

Now comes a third color – blue – in a limited production of just 25 watches. The new blue racing stripe model, like the yellow and red stripe versions, is powered by an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement, RL750, made for Ralph Lauren by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The movement has 261 components, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 48-hour power reserve. The watch has six hands: a central hour and minute hand, both sword-shaped, and a baton-shaped central chronograph hand measuring elapsed seconds. The seconds are shown in a subdial at 6 o’clock. A 30-minute counter is at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter is at 9 o’clock. A tachymeter scale runs around the rim of the dial. The date in indicated in a window at 6 o’clock.

The ceramic case has a diameter of 44.8 mm, water-resistant to 50 meters. The convex sapphire crystal is nonreflective. The black matte ceramic crown features the RL logo. The varnished black matte dial features large Roman numeral hour markers.

The bracelet is made of black matte ceramic and blue rubber. The three-part fold-over clasp is made of stainless steel with black PVD finish. The suggested retail price for the limited-edition blue-stripe watch is $7,400.

The Ralph Lauren Sporting Collection includes, in addition to the ceramic chronographs, the Ralph Lauren Automotive watch, with a wooden dial modeled after the dashboard of Lauren’s own Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupe, and the Safari RL 67 Chronograph watch. The collection is inspired by “gentlemen’s motorsports, and the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the worlds of polo, golf, and tennis,” the company says.

  1. The design might be attractive, but the price is just not for this Watch. I would rather buy a know classic brand that is know only for making watches and not a brand that makes even underwear.
