Chronograph Queries: Test your Knowledge of Column Wheels, Cams, and Chrono-Movement Clones

The chronograph function may be the most popular among watch enthusiasts. You’ve probably heard of regular chronographs, flyback chronographs, rattrapante chronographs, even chronographs with foudroyantes — but could you explain what the differences are between them? Do you know how they work, who invented them, and which models are most well-known in each category? Take our 15-question chronograph quiz and find out for sure.

How well did you do? Which questions were the most difficult? Did you learn anything new? Let us know in the comments section (below).

Thanks for the quiz, I honestly didn’t really know any of the answers and those that I did get right were more of a lucky guess than knowledge. I learnt quite a bit from this quiz.

Cool quiz. However, I am fairly new to horology. Is there a good book you recommend where I could learn everything in that quiz?
