Carl F. Bucherer Names Diego Benaglio Brand Ambassador

Diego Benaglio Carl F. Bucherer has named Diego Benaglio, the Swiss national soccer team goalkeeper, as its newest ambassador. Diego is the perfect example of someone who can make big dreams come true, and at 27 years of age, he has already achieved a great deal. Diego’s childhood dream to become a footballer became a reality in 1999, when he received an offer to join Grasshopper, the Zurich football club. Next came a three-year contract with VfB Stuttgart. At 23, he transferred to the “Desportivo Nacional” club, which plays in the top Portuguese football league. The move surprised outsiders, but for him it was extremely worthwhile. In 2008, Diego went to play in the German national league and a year later, his team VfL Wolfsburg won the German championship. At the same time, Diego Benaglio was selected by the then national team trainer as the main goalkeeper for the 2008 European Championships in Switzerland and Austria. During Switzerland’s first match of the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa against world champion Spain, he did not allow a goal. This allowed Switzerland to gain its first ever win against Spain and also its only victory in last year’s World Cup series. The Lucerne watch Manufacture, Bucherer Montres S.A., is proud of its relationship with its new representative. “Diego Benaglio embodies the values of our Carl F. Bucherer brand in an impressive way. His passion for what he does, his continual striving for technical perfection, and the determination to go his own way are the same qualities, which we also have to demonstrate constantly in the assembly of our top quality timekeepers”, confirms Sascha Moeri, CEO of Bucherer Montres S.A..
