Bulgari’s Octo collection of men’s luxury watches — whose eight-sided case design was inspired by octagonal motifs from ancient Roman architecture — expands this year with the launch of the new Octo Roma, which the Swiss-made, Italian-rooted brand refers to as the “Fifth Element” of its growing collection. Bulgari presented the new timepieces during SIHH week in Geneva.
The Bulgari Octo Roma — comprising five new models with three dial variations and three case finishes — represents, according to Bulgari, the fifth major pillar of its Octo family, the other four being the original three-hand Octo, including the all-black Ultranero models; the Octo Velocissimo chronographs (read a review of one here); the ultra-thin Finissimo models, including last year’s Finissimo Skeleton; and the record-setting slim horological complications such as the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.
For the new timepieces, the Octo’s structured case, with its eight sides and 110 facets, has been subtly reworked. Its geometrical “circle in a square” shape measure 41 mm in diameter and has smoother edges for a more comfortable feel on the wrist. Also adding to the comfort is the newly enhanced leather straps, which flow seamlessly from the case and measure 32.5 mm wide. The cases, which are water-resistant to 100 meters and feature screw-locked crowns with ceramic inserts, are available in steel, rose gold, or two-tone rose gold and steel.
The dials, which are graced with hand-applied hour numerals and indices and faceted, skeletonized hands, offer the choice of black lacquered, silver-toned, or sunburst-polished brown. The steel, black-dial version comes on a matching steel bracelet with the distinctive Octo-style links.
Great looking watch! Reminds me of the Baume Mercier Riviera. I like the design; I would purchase this watch.
Magnificent TimePiece…Hopeful it will move well and cause better understanding of craftsmanship..
A truly stunning watch, especially with brown dial and brown strap or in steel with bracelet.
