Gandhi Items Top $2 million at Auction

Lot 364 at Antiquorum's March 4/5 New York auction exceeded expectations, bringing $2,096,000 including buyer's premium. The lot included a silver keyless Zenith alarm pocketwatch formerly owned by Mahatma Gandhi and later given to his grandniece, Abha Gandhi. The watch dated from circa 1910 and it was accompanied in the sale by Gandhi’s sandals, bowl, plate, glasses, images of Gandhi, and letters of authenticity from Gita Mehta, Talatsahid Khan Babi, and Professor Lester Kurtz.
