Antiquorum’s December 9 NYC Auction Features Patek 3974, Rolex Comex

On December 9 at its New York City headquarters, Antiquorum will auction over 400 timepieces, and the star of the show will be a platinum Patek Philippe ref. 3974 minute repeater perpetual calendar with 2 additional dials. This watch was produced in 1999 and this is only the fourth time in 10 years this reference will be offered at auction. An extract from the Patek Philippe archives is included.

The sale also includes a Patek Philippe ref. 3450 with transparent case back. Produced in 1983, this yellow gold wristwatch has a perpetual calendar, moon phases, and leap year indicator. The transparent case back was available only upon special order, and this is the fourth time this reference with this special-order option has come up for auction. The estimate is $200,000 to $300,000.

The December sale also includes a collection of dive watches owned by renowned diver Patrice Chemin. Mr. Chemin joined Comex in the early 1970s and participated in several hyperbaric experimental dives including Physalie V, a world record dive at 530 m (1706 ft) in November 1970, and Physalie VI at 610m (2001 ft) in May 1972 – a world record that he held for eleven years. His collection includes a Rolex Comex Ref. 5514 with a first generation helium escape valve and a “maxi” dial. This watch is being offered with Mr. Chemin’s diving helmet. The estimate is $40,000 – $60,000.
