Raymond Weil Maestro – Raymond Weil Limited Edition

Raymond Weil Maestro Limited EditionRaymond Weil, who founded his eponymous Swiss watch brand in 1976, passed away early this year. Now, the Raymond Weil watch brand honors its pioneering namesake with the release of a special tribute timepiece, the Maestro Raymond Weil Limited Edition, which features a gold case and a COSC-certified mechanical chronograph movement.

The Raymond Weil Maestro – Raymond Weil Limited Edition is distinguished from mainstream Raymond Weil watches by the hand-written signature of the founder, inscribed in silver and placed prominently on the dial below the 12 o’clock position. The watch has a round, 45-mm-diameter case made of 18k rose gold; the gold, fluted crown has an “RW” monogram and the sapphire crystal has an anti-glare treatment on both sides. The case is water-resistant to 50 meters and includes a screw-down caseback with a sapphire viewing window. The dial has a tricompax design, with a small seconds subdial at 3 o’clock, and chronograph subdials at 9 0’clock (30-minute counter) and 6 o’clock (12-hour counter). The date is in a window at 4:30 and the dial is ringed by a tachymeter scale. Applied gold baton indices mark the hours. The leaf-shaped hands are rose-gold electroplated (hour, minute, small seconds) or in blued steel (chronograph counters, central chronograph seconds hand).

The movement in the Maestro Raymond Weil Limited Edition is the automatic Caliber RW 1926, which has 61 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. Visible through the clear caseback, it also features a skeletonized winding rotor, adorned with cotes de Geneve and an engraved “RW” monogram. The movement is certified as a chronometer by the Swiss testing agency COSC and each one is engraved with a unique number identifying it as part of this limited series. Caliber RW 1926 includes a chronograph function (said to be Raymond Weil’s favorite complication), with the start/stop/restart pusher at 2 o’clock and the reset pusher at 4 o’clock. The Raymond Weil Maestro – Raymond Weil Limited Edition will be limited to just 100 numbered pieces worldwide, priced at $14,995. Each one will be packaged in a handsome presentation box made of olive tree wood and bearing a Raymond Weil signature.
