Video: Inside a Swiss Watchmaking School

Timepiece expert and WatchTime contributor Jeff Kingston visits the École Technique in Le Sentier, in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, one of five watchmaking schools in the country.

What does it take to become a watchmaker? What sort of curriculum are students offered in pursuit of a watchmaking career?

We seek out the answers in a guided tour through this watchmaking school and visit some of the different stages of the three-year curriculum that aspiring horologists follow to become trained as watchmakers and qualified to work for a watch company. Enjoy a special look behind the scenes, courtesy of this exclusive video.

IBG Worldwide is a video platform dedicated to demonstrating how the finest timepieces are really made. It hosts our documentaries that educate collectors in the many techniques used in the creation of sophisticated mechanical watches. This is an English-language video channel that no individual watch brand could create by itself.

Just saw the video about the watchmaking school, very nice, a little jalous at the students learning a real job. Thank you for showing.
