A few months ago, we reported on A. Lange & Söhne sponsoring the F.A. Lange Excellence Award, which involved eight young watchmakers from around the world competing for a prize of 10,000 euros by creating a date display based on an ETA 6498 movement. A. Lange & Söhne Names BMW’s Wilhelm Schmid CEO

German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne has appointed Wilhelm Schmid as Chief Executive Officer effective January, 2011. Schmid, 47, a German national, has held several positions in marketing and sales over the last eight years for BMW. Since 2007, he has been responsible for sales and marketing for BMW South Africa.
