Richard Mille Donates Rafael Nadal RM 027 to Only Watch Charity Auction
On September 22, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco will preside over the fourth Only Watch auction of exceptional watches. The proceeds of this event, organized by Antiquorum Auctioneers, will be used to fund research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. To support this worthy cause, Richard Mille has contributed a unique and symbolic watch to be offered during this charity auction.
Ronnie Wood, Armin Strom, and Virgin Racing Team Up
Armin Strom, Official Timing Partner of the Virgin Racing Formula One Team, has announced that it will participate in an art project with the Ronnie Wood. Best known as a Rolling Stone, Ronnie is also an artist, and during 2011 he will paint a Virgin Racing Formula 1 car, an Armin Strom watch, and a Virgin Racing driver’s helmet. The Armin Strom “Art Watch” will be auctioned at the 2011 Only Watch exhibition and sale in Monaco.
Only Watch Preview at Tourneau NY September 10-12
Watch collectors and aficionados will have an opportunity to preview the 34 one-of-a-kind timepieces being offered at Only Watch 2009 during an exhibition at the Tourneau Time Machine in New York September 10-12. Only Watch is a biannual auction held during the Monaco Yacht Show under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II. The world’s leading watch brands donate unique and first-in-a-series “Only Watches”, and the timepieces are auctioned by Patrizzi & Co. with all proceeds going to support research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a childhood disease.
TAG Heuer Monaco V4 No. 1 for Only Watch
In 2004, TAG Heuer created the revolutionary Monaco V4 Concept Watch. Inspired by the brand’s motor racing heritage (the watch’s name comes from the racing-engine-like V-formation of the movement’s four barrels), the V4 uses ball bearings and is belt-driven – a totally new type of watch movement. The Monaco V4 is the first mechanical watch movement to replace traditional pinions with driving belts. The pinions of the traditional mechanical movement have been replaced with a relay of five driving belts whose tension is controlled by turnbuckles.
Unique Patek Philippe Ref. 5106 for Only Watch
For Only Watch 2009, Patek Philippe has created a unique Ref. 5106 by adding a date display and other special features to the Celestial Ref. 5102. This one-of-a-kind piece is crafted in rose gold with a special guilloché pattern on the 22k rose gold bezel. The soft 22k gold allowed the unique guilloché pattern to be applied with a special hand tool created just for this watch.
