Column Wheel

The upright, notched, rotating wheel in a chronograph that acts as a sliding link to operate the various levers that turn a chronograph on and off and return the chronograph hands to the zero position. Not all chronographs have column wheels; many use an alternative on-off switching system called “cam switching.”
