Piece Time – Distinctive Watch Parts, Chapter 2: Dials

A watch’s design is the sum of its so-called “appearance parts:” hands, dial, crown, bracelet, et cetera. In the second chapter in our series on the distinctive parts of watches, we focus on dials. The dial is the face of the timepiece and reveals much about its character.

Click through the gallery below to see some popular dial styles and layouts used in today’s watches. How many do you recognize?

Next week: Crowns and push-pieces. Click here for last week’s chapter on styles of hands.
