Sources in Switzerland are reporting that former Vacheron Constantin CEO Claude-Daniel Proellochs died in his sleep in Neuchâtel this past Sunday evening following a short battle with cancer. Sowind Group (Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD) has issued a statement announcing that its Chairman, Luigi Macaluso, has unexpectedly passed away at age 62 after suffering a heart attack. Luigi, known as “Gino” by those closest to him, was born in Turin, Italy, in 1948. He was married to Monica and the father of four children, Stefano, Massimo, Anna and Margherita. Bulova Watchmaking School Co-founder Stanley Simon Dies at 93


The New York Times is reporting that Stanley Simon, who was instrumental in bringing the Bulova Watchmaking School into being, has passed away in Manhattan. He was 93. The School, founded in 1945, became a model for industry-lead rehabilitation of disabled veterans. First conceived as World War II drew to an end, the school trained thousands of veterans in the watchmaker's art. … [Read more...]
