Big Bang Depeche Mode Auction Benefits Teenage Cancer Trust

Depeche Mode, Hublot, Patrizzi & Co. and Liveauctioneers.com are teaming up to offer twelve unique collector timepieces in an online auction with the full proceeds to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust. Each timepiece bears the artwork of one of Depeche Mode’s legendary studio albums. Bidding opened yesterday and closes February 24. A sampling of the timepieces appears below.
Seiko Donates Spring Drive Spacewalk Sale Proceeds to Charities

On September 17, 2009, the Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk watch that was taken into space by Richard Garriott was auctioned at Antiquorum’s New York sale. The sale generated lively bidding, and the selling price exceeded both the reserve and the pre-sale estimate. Seiko has now donated the sale proceeds to the two charities that Richard Garriott supports, the Nature Conservancy and the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.
Hublot Limited Edition Supports Medical Research

Hublot has teamed with the oldest automobile club in the world – the Automobile Club de France (ACF) – to create a limited edition timepiece to benefit the Fondation ICM (Institute for Cerebral and Medullary Disorders). This is the first partnership with a major brand for the ACF, which was founded in 1895. One of the founding members of the Fondation ICM is Jean Todt – a name well known to auto racing enthusiasts. Mr. Todt is the president of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) – the governing body for Formula 1. The FIA is headquartered at the Automobile Club de France.
New Watch Brand Carbon14 Offers Environmental Award

New watch brand Carbon14 launched last month at Ecofest, New York City’s largest environmental conference and festival. More than 10,000 people attended the multi-day event. The brand, also known as C14, offers 3 collections called Air, Earth, and Water. To spotlight the brand’s environmental focus, it is offering the $50,000 C14 Environmental Award.
Vacheron Constantin Creates Special Quai de l’Ile to Benefit Charity

Following the Only Watch 2009 auction, Vacheron Constantin announced that it is creating a special series of 100 numbered Quai de l’Ile timepieces that will enable the company to donate an additional SFr.100,000 to the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy. The limited edition pieces will feature cases made from tantalum and in palladium, and the watches will be equipped with mechanical self-winding caliber 2460 movements bearing the Hallmark of Geneva.
Only Watch Raises €2,285,500 for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

The Only Watch auction held September 24 raised €2,285,500 (slightly under $3,350,000) for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a childhood disease. In all, Patrizzi & Co. auctioned 34 exceptional timepieces at the event, which took place during the Monaco Yacht Show. A unique Patek Philippe ref. 5160 brought the top bid of €535,000.00 or more than $780,000.

Southern California-based Reactor, maker of durable and progressive sport watches, has designed a special one-of-a-kind Diamond Nucleus watch to commemorate St. Louis Cardinals star first baseman Albert Pujols’ stellar 2008 season. Considered one of the sport’s best players, Pujols was voted the National League’s Most Valuable Player in 2008.
Bulgari Auction to Honor Save the Children

Bulgari will auction an exquisite jewelry and watch collection in December to celebrate their 125th anniversary. The collection is estimated to be worth $4 million and consists of 11 unique jewelry pieces and seven limited edition timepieces. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign, which provides quality education for eight million children living in conflict-affected areas around the world. Efforts supporting the campaign are non-profit. Many well-known names have supported the cause.
Zenith Teams With NBA Stars At Summer Groove ‘09

Zenith was a proud sponsor of the 13th Annual “Summer Groove” benefit dinner held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on July 11th. Hosted by NBA stars Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade, the “Summer Groove” is a festive five-day event that benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities and Wade’s World Foundation. Actress Holly Robinson-Peete served as emcee of the benefit dinner. Attendees included Kenny Smith, Patrick Ewing, Rodney Peete and Jason Taylor.
