Watch Insider: 10 Watches With That “Certain Something”

Some watches simply “have it” and some do not. These 10 timepieces, to me, have that certain something that sets them apart. Scroll down to see my choices. These are the watches introduced in 2014 that appeal most to the emotions of your Watch Insider, plain and simple. No other criteria have been taken into account, and the list is alphabetical, not a 1 through 10 ranking. So, without further ado:

A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase

I have always liked the Lange 1, and this newest version, with its perfectly integrated moon-phase indication, is simply a stunning timepiece. Click here to learn more about it.

Alpina Genève Alpiner 4 Chronograph

When I saw the first prototype of this watch earlier this year, I proclaimed it “a very cool chronograph,” and up until today, my opinion has not changed. Click here to learn more and to see other models in the Alpiner 4 collection.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph

Yes, it’s essentially just an Offshore Chronograph presented in a new color. But it is still a watch that has a unique appeal. The gray color appears as if its made to last forever. More about the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs, and additional models, can be found here.

This is Breguet at its best: an ultra-flat automatic tourbillon that embodies everything the brand stands for. Click here for more details on this record-setting, ultra-thin timepiece.

Glashütte Original Senator Chronograph Panorama Date

A timepiece that proves a chronograph need not necessarily be a sports watch. This one is truly elegant, and its in-house-made movement is highly innovative. For a review of this watch, click here.

I’d perhaps add the TAG Monaco as having that certain” something” as well.

The Time Zone Langhe & Sohne is more “special” than the moon phase.

  7. I think the new Rolex Skydweller white gold with a black leather strap is just one of the most beautiful ever.

The simplicity of changing the Skydweller movement – not having to worry about changing dates between 10pm and 4am etc is what makes Rolex movements so dependable and special.
