Earlier this year, TW Steel released a special-edition ladies watch for one of its female “brand ambassadors,” singer Kelly Rowland. Now, the brand teams up with another of its endorsers, Australian motorcyclist Mick Doohan, to release the Mick Doohan Limited Edition CEO Tech Multi Function Automatic, of which only 500 will be available worldwide. The new timepiece celebrates the achievements of Doohan, the winner of five straight 500cc (now MotoGP) World Championships from 1994 to 1998. He has worked with TW Steel as a brand ambassador since 2011.
The Mick Doohan Limited Edition is powered by a Miyota 9100 Multi Function automatic movement — the same Japanese-made caliber used in the brand’s CEO Diver Multifunction Automatic — and shows the day, month, and 24-hour time display on the dial, which is held in a sandblasted matte-PVD-coated dark titanium case.
Drawing inspiration from Doohan’s career, the 1, 9, and 5 on the dial are colored red, orange, and white, respectively — the three colors associated with the Repsol Honda Doohan drove in his racing victories. In keeping with the motorcycle motif, the bezel screws are designed to look like motorcycle shock absorbers.
