Richard Mille Sponsors Les Voiles de Saint Barth 2013

150Richard Mille once again sponsored the Voiles de Saint Barth, a week-long ocean racing event in the Caribbean, now in its fourth year. The event, which Richard Mille has partnered with since its inception, brought together 60 sailing vessels and 800 sailors from around the world. Facing a steady 20-knot breeze and regularly high seas, several boat classes raced on course near the island of Saint Barth.

Among the victors was Wendy Schmidt, owner of the Swan 80 Selene, star of this year’s event, in the Maxi Yachts class. Schmidt was awarded a Richard Mille RM 028 diver’s watch in titanium at the prize-giving ceremony.

The RM028 timepiece, featuring a unidirectional rotating bezel, complies with the ISO 6425 standard for diver’s watches and is water-resistant to 300 meters (30 ATM). The watch is made waterproof by the tripartite construction of the case and bezel, completed by lugs incorporated into the case assembly. The skeletonized automatic movement of the RM 028 is equipped with a variable geometry rotor, an exclusive Richard Mille concept that adapts the automatic winding of the watch to the activity of the user using two white-gold wings.
