Reactor’s First Mechanical Watch: Poseidon Titanium

The American watch brand Reactor, known for its sports watches, makes its first foray into the arena of mechanical watches with the Poseidon Titanium Limited Edition professional automatic dive watch. The new watch is an update of the previous stainless-steel version, now with a titanium case (which reduces the weight by 40%) and equipped with an automatic movement, a first for Reactor. A version with a Miyota 2S65 10-year battery movement is also available.

The 1,000-meter depth-rated Titanium Poseidon features a 48-mm case with exhibition caseback and dual rotating timing bezels. The internal bezel is bi-directional (operated by the 2 o’clock crown), while the external bezel is unidirectional and features a precision 120-click mechanism. The mechanical version retails for $1,500, while the quartz version is $900.

“Many of our customers have been asking us to introduce mechanical movements,” said Jimmy Olmes, president of the Southern California-based company. “With Miyota’s introduction of their extraordinary new 9015 movement, this seemed like the ideal watch and ideal time to jump into the mechanical market.”
