Eric Clapton’s Patek on the Block at Christie’s

Last week, Christie’s auction house held a press preview of jewels and other items from its upcoming auctions. One particular item that caught our eye was this Patek Philippe watch, a very rare Ref. 2499/100 from the personal collection of legendary guitarist Eric Clapton. Manufactured in 1987, the watch has a perpetual calendar, chronograph and moon-phase. Christie’s expects this timepiece — one of only two platinum versions of this reference ever made — to fetch 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 Swiss Francs when it goes up for auction on November 20 in Geneva. Apparently, Mr. Clapton is known as a very avid watch collector. Eric, if you’re reading this, WatchTime would love to sit down and talk watches with you.
