Basel Preview: Chronoswiss Celebrates 30 Years With New Régulateur 30 Watch

Chronoswiss Regulateur 30 rose goldFor Chronoswiss, the year 2013 marks two important anniversaries: it is the 30th anniversary of the brand’s founding and also the year that the brand’s flagship watch model, the Régulateur, turns 25. The new, limited-edition Régulateur 30 watch, which debuts at Baselworld next week, pays tribute to both milestones.

The Chronoswiss Régulateur 30 has an atypical regulator-dial arrangement, with a window at the 12 o’clock position in which the digital “jumping hours” numerals are displayed, as opposed to a more traditional hours subdial. The largest subdial, with the minutes display, has moved slightly upward from its position on previous models, encompassing the jumping hours window and intersecting the seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The movement that powers this unconventional timekeeper is Chronoswiss’s automatic C.283 caliber.

The eye-catching dial is made of solid sterling silver and features two intricate decorative patterns: a barleycorn guilloché motif emanating from the center, framing the minutes and seconds subdials — a stylistic homage to Chronoswiss’s original Kairos model — and a rarely seen “chessboard” guilloché pattern within the subdials. The feuille-style minutes and seconds hands have been thermally blued and ground by hand to be the precise length for their respective subdials.

The Régulateur 30 will be available only in a limited edition of 130 pieces in a rose-gold case and 300 pieces in a stainless steel case. Each watch will be delivered in a special box with built-in winder (pictured below). U.S. prices have yet to be announced.
