NOMOS Glashütte is celebrating summer with Ahoi — an extra water-resistant watch that fulfills a lot of wishes. Combining fine Glashütte craftsmanship, prizewinning design from Berlin, and unusually robust casing that is almost indestructible, this mechanical timepiece from NOMOS Glashütte brings all these features together in a most marvelous way. A 40-mm-diameter watch for watersports and holidays, it is also well suited to hiking and bicycle tours — and for effortless everyday wear as well.
Ahoi’s reinforced sapphire caseback, held firm with six screws, and screw-down crown ensure that the automatic movement within stays tightly sealed — down to 20 bar, in fact, tested according to stringent standards for divers’ watches based on the German standard DIN 8306. Light blue on the hour and minute hands and a dash of red on the seconds hand complete the design. Furthermore, Super-LumiNova inlays on the hands and dial makes Ahoi the perfect companion — even in the dark.
Ahoi Atlantik, the latest Ahoi model, is deep, dark, and mysterious like the ocean itself. Its dial, in a striking Atlantic blue, is reminiscent of the surface of the wide ocean on a windless day, giving this version an even more masculine, mature appearance. The rose-gold hour and minute hands further enhance this smart impression.
With Ahoi, you are ready for each and every surfing or sailing trip, however wild the waves. The watch comes with a strap of black waterproof material with NOMOS’s own winged clasp, specially designed so that it won’t come undone when you jump into the water. And what about the movement? Time is kept either by the NOMOS Epsilon caliber (in the versions without the date) or Zeta (with date). Both are renowned for their accuracy and the performance of their mainsprings. The NOMOS Zeta caliber, which ticks inside the Ahoi Datum and Ahoi Atlantik Datum, also features NOMOS’s patented date function. Using only a few extra parts, the large NOMOS “long distance” date display adds extra functionality to the movement without adding extra height.
Earlier this year NOMOS Glashütte produced a very special edition of Ahoi Datum for WatchTime in Germany. Limited to only 50 timepieces, each one boasts chronometer certification and features an in-house-developed and -built escapement, the NOMOS swing system. These unique characteristics are indicated by the “chronometer” inscription at 9 o’clock on the dial and an individually numbered engraving on the back. This special edition underlines NOMOS Glashütte’s close relationship with WatchTime—and all the features that make Ahoi such an attractive timepiece.
