Panerai Radiomir 3 Days Platino 47 mm

PAM373

In the late 1930s, Panerai created a few examples of the Radiomir with a unique dial design. Today, only two examples survive. Why they were created is not known. Their history washed away with the Panerai archive in the Florence flood of 1966. The new Radiomir 3 Days Platino picks up this dial design, which has never before been revived. Find the launch date, wallpaper and pricing inside.

The origin of the dial is not easy to identify. According to Panerai, some historians believe the two surviving examples (which differ in that one has a small seconds dial and the other does not) may have been test samples that were never serially produced.

The brown dial of the new Radiomir, protected by a Plexiglas crystal, has a minimalist appearance, with alternating bar-shaped and dot hour markers, rather than the characteristic large arabic figures typically found on classic Panerai dials. To ensure excellent legibility, the dial uses Panerai’s traditional sandwich construction in which a perforated upper disk rests above a layer of luminous material.

The 47mm platinum case is water-resistant to 100 meters, a figure to which it is believed that the first Radiomirs could descend. The back has a large sapphire crystal window to display the movement. The strap attachments are wire, and are not welded to the case but can be removed (a Panerai patent), allowing the strap to be changed more easily. The piece features a brown alligator strap, closed by a buckle of polished white gold

The Radiomir 3 Days Platino is fitted with the P.3000 caliber, entirely designed and manufactured in the Officine Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel. The calibre has 21 jewels and the variable inertia 13.2 mm balance wheel enables its rate to be rapidly adjusted by means of the adjusting screws on the rim. The movement features Panerai’s typical large bridges, and two spring barrels provide a power reserve of three days.

The new Radiomir 3 Days Platino – 47 mm (PAM00373) will be produced in 199 numbered units. This piece will be launched in August with a European retail price of 29,000 euros.
