Jaquet Droz Minute Repeater

Jaquet Droz presents this new minute repeater in the brand’s iconic “figure 8″ Grande Seconde design. Deceptively simple in appearance, the complex movement’s twin hammers chime the time to the minute. The 43mm diameter case and hands are 18 carat red gold. Serial numbers will be painted on the dial and engraved on the caseback.

Breitling’s New Wave Superocean

Breitling Superocean

After conquering the skies, in 1957 Breitling set course for the sea with the launch of the original Superocean, equipped with a highly readable dial, armored glass, and a monohull case watertight to 200 meters or 660 feet – quite a feat for the time. Originally designed for professional and military divers, the watch soon developed a following among enthusiasts and leisure divers. At Baselworld, Breitling launched the latest Superocean with an entirely new design.

Confrérie Horlogère Hublot Presents “Liberty”

Confrérie Horlogère Hublot Liberty

When formerly high-flying Swiss movement manufacturer BNB Concept sunk under the weight of its accounts receivable in January, Jean-Claude Biver swung into action, bringing BNB’s managing director Mathias Buttet and about 30 of his watchmakers to Hublot. Biver also acquired BNB’s entire machine base. These decisive steps place Hublot among the few brands that can independently design and produce even the most complex movements in-house. The group’s first new creation was shown at Baselworld.

Bell & Ross BR03-92 Military Ceramic “Phantom”

Bell & Ross BR03-92

Designed to maintain a low profile, the Bell & Ross BR03-92 case is fashioned entirely from a monochromatic khaki-camouflage ceramic with a matte finish. The ceramic will absolutely retain its color, and you won’t be able to scratch it unless you go after it with a diamond. It’s also lighter than steel and hypoallergenic. The 42mm diameter and 100 meter water resistance make the watch suitable for a wide variety of applications. The dial and hands are highly legible in all lighting conditions. The movement is ETA’s 2892.

A Riddle and an Update

Sie sind sehr krank

When can a speck the size of a grain of sand stop the presses at WatchTime.com? When it materializes in the editor’s kidney. So begins the story of my ill-fated trip to Baselworld 2010. I arrived at Zurich airport on March 16 feeling pretty well, but by the time I had my train tickets, the stabbing pain had started. A doctor visited a few hours later at my hotel in Germany. He dispensed some pain medication and I hoped for the best, but the next morning things were worse.
